What Customers Say About Mr. Coffee GTF2-1 Basket-style Gold Tone Permanent Filter:

I highly recommend this coffe permanent filter. I really think it is great to use. I was using the paper filter and it would sometime fold and the coffee grinds in up in my cup. My coffee taste much better now.

I had no idea that the sizes were different. This is too small for a Black & Decker.

I drink my coffee black, and if there's any difference in flavor, it's subtle. This came with the Mr. It does seem that the coffee is a little weaker this way, which is not a good thing. Coffee machine that I bought, I don't know, maybe 3 years ago. Had never tried it before because that solid plastic bottom just seemed wrong, not really sure what the logic is, although I'm sure somebody has a plausible explanation.Anyway, I finally decided to try it, and it does work. Maybe it's because the water is not going all the way through the grounds, but is soaking in and then coming out the sides. You could put more coffee in, but then you're wasting some of the money that you saved on paper filters. So I think I'll keep on with the paper filters, which I can get very cheap, but at least I have an emergency backup.

To be fair, I don't use it daily. I'm happy with this filter - it does the job it's supposed to do and the price is fair. It would be better if it had a mesh bottom, and it takes some rinsing to get all the grounds out after use, but it works just fine for me. probably more like 1-2 times each week. Overall, a decent product that saves me from wasting paper.

I was happy to find that I can still use the water filter with the metal basket. I purchased this in a local store for a few bucks. I purchased this item because I had heard that metal baskets make better coffee and they're good for the environment (paper coffee filters are readily biodegradable, but the bleaching process used during their manufacture is not very eco-friendly). I use it with my Mr. Coffee FTTX95 10-Cup Programmable Thermal Coffeemaker, Black/Stainless which also comes with a water filter. I can't say I've noticed a huge difference in taste (not surprising since I'm not a big coffee drinker and typically add a LOT of creamer when I do partake), BUT it is easy to use/clean and now I don't have to worry about the paper filter collapsing and letting grounds escape if the basket is a little wet. So far I haven't found a single ground in my coffee - it was worth the modest price for that alone.Note: To clean I dump the majority of the grounds in the garbage and then rinse off anything remaining into the sink.
